Ballroom Dancing Every Friday Night
The Dance Space is the only establishment in Richmond, Virginia to hold a public Ballroom Dance every week of the year. Every Friday night a Ballroom Dance is held at The Dance Space from 8pm to 10:30. It starts with a 30 minute Ballroom group class which is followed by general dancing. Our facility has a 1600 square foot wooden dance floor and state-of-the-art sound system. We play a mixture of traditional-ballroom and contemporary music. Light refreshments are served. Both singles and couples are welcome.
When: Every Friday night (excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve)

National Ballroom Dance Week Friday Night at The Dance Space
In support of National Ballroom Dance Week and to help promote ballroom dance in the Richmond Metro area, The Dance Space sponsors a reduced-cost event on Friday of that week. A 30 minute beginner group class is held starting at 8:00 pm followed by general dancing until 10:30. Refreshments will be served.
A special annual event for dancers of all ages. Both singles and couples are welcome.

1st and 2nd Saturday Night Swing Dances
The Richmond Area Swing Dance Society presents a swing dance on the first and second Saturday of every month. Each evening starts with a one hour "Beginning Swing" group class at 7:30pm , followed by dancing until 11:00pm. Light refreshments served.
We play a wide variety of swing tempos, from slow West Coast or Carolina Shag numbers to moderate Lindy or East Coast Swing to fast Charleston tunes. We throw in Carolina Shag, salsa and other Latin dances, as well as waltzes and the occasional 2-step. On the 2nd Saturday, the music is predominantly Lindy, both slow and smooth and faster Charleston tempos.
On both Saturdays there is a "Beginning Swing" group class that starts at 7:30. The type of swing taught at the beginner group class is as follows - 1st Saturday, East Coast Jitterbug; 2nd Saturday, 8-count Lindy. The dance follows at 8:30. The beginner class and the dance are included in one price.

Catherine Farmer in conjunction with The Richmond Area Tango Society presents an Argentine Tango Lesson and Milonga on the third Saturday of every month. Doors open at 8, and the lesson starts at 8:15. At 9 the milonga begins and goes until midnight. Light refreshments served.
When: Every 3rd Saturday Night of the Month

5th Saturday Showcase Dance
The Dance Space sponsors four special ballroom dances each year when there is a 5th Saturday to the month. The dance is a simple, elegant evening of general dancing to ballroom style music. Attendees are requested to dress up and there will be no group class. Light horsdoeuvres will be served. Both singles and couples are welcome.
Throughout the evening several sets of amateur or pro-am dance exhibitions will be held. This is designed to entertain our guests and to give students, from The Dance Space, a regular opportunity to prepare and perform ballroom dance routines.

Every 2nd Sunday, The Dance Space holds a laid-back evening of rythm dancing. This dance, held from 7 to 9pm, is not your typical ballroom dance as Richmond's DJ Bill put's a Club flair on this one. He'll take out the traveling dances, and go heavy on West Coast Swing, Latin, Hustle, and Night Club Two Step. Enjoying Club Tango? This is the dance for you. $5 per person gets you 2 hours of dancing and light refreshments.
So come on out at 7 PM on the 2nd Sunday and enjoy another evening of dancing with friends at The Dance Space.
